The SPACEWORKS project aims to explore the level of importance organisations
place on their workspace’s ability to influence behavior, increase efficiency
and productivity, and to monitor trends and future needs.
It looks to establish common elements that can lead to the creation of best working practices,
identify who is best placed to influence strategic decision making related to future working
styles and monitor the changing needs of workplace communities.

From past surveys over seventy five percent of office workers report that their physical
environment has a significant or very significant impact on their personal productivity.
Yet less than twenty percent of those responsible in managing those workers were
involved in the development of the workplace specification and even less in the
development of protocols.
Since the last survey five years ago, the importance of the internet has grown, cloud
computing has gathered momentum and mobile communications are commonplace.
