Mel is a researcher and also lectures on the undergraduate programme in FM at Sheffield Hallam University.  She has a Masters in Communications and in her previous role worked as the Manager of the Countryside Recreation Network (a network of government and non-government agencies across the UK and Ireland). Her current research interests include the provision of FM in outdoor recreation facilities and the use of communication skills in FM.

In her spare time she likes to go hill walking, mountain biking and enjoys listening to rock music!
